Project themes at a glance
Africa's non-government organisations (NGOs) join forces with the Iroko Foundation on a range of vital projects aimed at supporting village efforts to manage and conserve their community forests and wildlife. Though the projects are each unique, they all have similar themes running through them including -

Community management of forests and wildlife.
This may include the development of community managed protected areas and buffer zones.

Income generating activities compatible with forest conservation will be supported for communities living around conservation areas. These may include agro-allied cottage industries and the management, cultivation, harvesting and marketing of economic forest products.

|
Environmental education and training for communities, NGOs and government bodies concerned with conservation such as National Parks and forestry departments.
|
|
Advocacy to create enabling policies and legislation for community forestry and wildlife management through legal work and publications.
|
|
|
