Tunde has worked on integrated conservation and development programmes in Africa and Latin America for over 10 years. He worked as a forestry research officer with the World Wide Fund for Nature in Brazil in 1990 and then as a community forester, for Cross River National Park, Nigeria from 1991-92.

Tunde carried out strategic planning and development for various projects in 1993-94 in Tanzania and Kenya working with villages, and national park authorities. In 1995, he was the Africa Coordinator for the Gaia Foundation. In this role, he prepared proposals, raised funds and monitored their projects across Africa. From 1996 to 1999 he worked as the Programme Development Manager for Living Earth Foundation's environmental education and community development projects in Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa. This involved designing programmes, raising funds from donors and the private sector and managing the quality of the programme's outputs.
