Laying the Proper Foundation

It’s easy to talk about what you should or shouldn’t do to have the proper mindset but it’s something else to actually lay out the plan to develop the proper mindset.

It starts with a dream. We have all had a dream. As kids, most of us were told we could do whatever we set our minds to. We could accomplish anything. Then, we became adults and were told dreams don’t really matter and that we need to be a little more realistic.

It’s time to start dreaming again. What do you want in life? Certainly, it’s not sitting in a cubicle working for someone else. Maybe, your dream is to own your first home and pay cash. I don’t know what dreams you have in you, but they will be the fuel to throw on the fire.

Once you’ve identified your dream, it’s time to unpack your purpose. Your purpose is the reason why you want your dreams. Your purpose will need to go much deeper than just wanting to own your first home, if that’s your dream. It is the burning desire, the fire inside, or the disgust you have with where you are currently.

Next, you will want to set some intermediate goals that stretch you far enough that if you stood on your tip toes you could barely reach it. Then, one more goal after that and so on. So, that what you would have is a ladder.

Knowing how you will start to how you will finish is called vision. Vision is being able to see what’s ahead and being able to navigate clearly through the process. Vision is also seeing the unseen.
